NEW SHARON – Deputies are investigating the illegal dumping of siding, bricks and other items in the woods off Weeks Mills Road.

“There is a substantial amount of what we believe to be asbestos siding, but it hasn’t been tested,” Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Niles Yeaton said.

He also said the bricks look as if they came from a chimney.

Sgt. Steve Lowell received the report of the dumping Sept. 28, Yeaton said, but it is unknown when the material was dumped there.

The site is about 50 yards off Weeks Mills Road.
