This year’s event is the 10th annual for the Rotary club.

RUMFORD – People will have a chance on Sunday to begin their holiday shopping when the 10th Annual Rotary Octoberfest Craft Fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the former armory on Lincoln Avenue.

Rotary member Joe Sirois said more than 30 craftspeople, food vendors and nonprofit organizations will offer their wares, raffles and munchies during the annual event.

The Rotary’s teen club, Interact, will serve pizza and other snacks, hot dogs will be offered by a local small business.

Craftspeople participating include those who knit, crochet, create woodwork items, fashion jewelry, paint and make Christmas decorations.

Others will offer baked goods and jams, pewter figurines, and sewn pillows and other handiwork. Nonprofit groups include Santa’s Helpers, the Polar Bear Snowmobile Club, the Friends of Rumford Public Library and the Mexico Congregational Church. There will be a Rotary used book sale and the fledgling Pulp and Paper Heritage Museum’s Caboose.

Most participants are from the River Valley area, while a few come from Harrison, Belgrade Lakes and Palmyra.

“We’re going to be full,” said Sirois.

The fair is one of several the Rotary club sponsors to raise money for its many charities and projects including scholarships for graduates of Mountain Valley High School.
