Why vote yes to bring a resort casino to the state of Maine?

How about 10,000 good-paying, new jobs and $100 million of slot machine proceeds going into the Maine state coffers.

There also would be thousands of newly employed Maine residents paying state income taxes again, thousands of newly employed Maine residents no longer relying on state aid for health care, housing, food, clothing and basic necessities. There would be thousands of newly employed Maine residents spending their new paychecks on goods and services. Hundreds of area restaurants, gas stations, motels, and retail stores would be overflowing with new customers, most of which will come from out-of-state.

There would be a lavish and beautiful casino resort that will be a magnificent centerpiece for Maine, offering not only gambling, but also wonderful restaurants, great gift shops, a magnificent hotel and top-name live entertainment.

The anti-casino people have not served up one non-casino alternative to creating 10,000 new jobs for the state.

They have, however, been expert at serving up a steady diet of lies, half-truths, rhetoric and scare tactics.

My guess is that none of the anti-casino leaders are unemployed and receiving public assistance. Maybe I missed the big news, but did General Motors or IBM or Microsoft announce they were relocating to Maine and bringing 10,000 jobs with them?

Vote yes for jobs. Help restore some dignity and pride to the unemployed people of the state of Maine.
