The Lewiston Maineiacs and the other Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams have brought an exciting and vibrant brand of hockey to this area.
Consisting entirely of young and up-and-coming players, their type of hockey is fast, slick in passing and hard-hitting.
Most of these young men will continue on to more professional leagues, and some gifted ones will play in the NHL. We have already seen how many great players have come from the QMJHL. We are very fortunate to see these players in the prime of their developing years, thereby giving us some invigorating games to watch.
My one criticism during the games is that the officials are waiting too long to break up the occasional fights, which we know there will be. Let the players throw a couple of punches, just to show how tough they are, then separate them. That way we can go on with the hockey game, which is what, I hope, a lot of us came for.
