The word hero has been bestowed on our public service people since Sept. 11. I’m not taking anything away from them, but have we forgotten about our men and women in uniform who are giving their lives for country in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere?

So many are away from their families and loved ones, being shot at every day. They are the biggest heroes in my eyes. They, and the many who fought in the wars before this, are the heroes. We owe so much to those men and women, but in their time of need we and our country turn our backs on them.

I hope everybody took the time to thank a veteran on Veterans Day, for all they have done for us and all the freedoms we enjoy today as citizens.
