“Is it coming?” question the Sabattus students. Sabattus Elementary School holds a special day for students in grades K-4 called Farm Day. It is a great learning day for the students. It shows the atmosphere of our community.
This is a day where the students go outside on our playground and get to play games, eat ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy and other things. Some of the farmers from Sabattus come down and bring their animals to show the kids.
Mr. Hinkley, a farmer from Sabattus, has an apple presser that he brings with him. He lets the students make their own apple cider out of real apples that he brings. He also is very kind enough to bring his animals, too.
The person that puts this all on is Mrs. Diane Whalen, a teacher at Sabattus. She has been putting this on for about 8 years. It’s nice for the students to have this program so hopefully it is going strong.
Farm Day is a very cool day for students in grades K-4. It also shows the presence of the community and how Sabattus was made or came to be a town. The students learn a lot and also have a fun time at the same time. I remember when I was young enough to go to Farm Day. It was a blast, and I bet it still is.
