AUBURN – Community Little Theatre will hold auditions for “Forever Plaid” by Stuart Ross Wednesday, Dec. 10, and Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. in the theater on Academy Street. Performance dates are March 5-7 and 11-14.

David Lock is directing and producing the play which has parts for four male singers: The Plaids. It features memorable songs from the ’50s.

Author Stuart Ross says, “When most of us think of this time period, we think of rock ‘n’ roll, greasers, hot rods, Elvis, Annette, Fabian, D.A., haircuts and teenage rebellion.

But there was a flip side to this era – the side of harmony, innocence and the sincerity of dreams.”

He says, “It was a time when most parents and kids listened and danced to the same music; when families partook of the ritual of gathering in front of the TV to watch their favorite variety shows, like the ‘Ed Sullivan Show’ or the ‘Perry Como Show.'”

The cast consists of Francis, a second tenor and lyric baritone who is the leader and caretaker of the group; baritone Sparky is the clown; tenor Jinx is the shy one; and Smudge, a bass, is the worrier.

Candidates should be able to move well, sing a part in a quartet and be able to read intelligently.
