PORTLAND – Brooklyn based hip-hop artist Toni Blackman will be in residence Dec. 1 to 5 at the Center for Cultural Exchange. The project will include a week of after-school work with local teens. The program will end at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, with a performance by Blackman, as well as all involved in the workshop.
Blackman has won acclaim as a performer, educator, founder of the Freestyle Union, author of the 2003 book “Inner-Course” and on-air personality. She is the first hip-hop artist to be designated as the U.S. ambassador of hip-hop by the State Department.
