AUBURN – Community Little Theatre will present “The Foreigner,” by Larry Shue, next month.

The show, directed by Linda Britt, will be staged Jan. 9 through Jan. 18 at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center on Academy Street.

Keith Anctil will play the leading role of Charlie Baker, who in the beginning appears to be permanently lost. Charlie is transformed from a painfully shy Englishman to an exotic “foreigner,” acquiring an outgoing and take-charge personality along the way.

Supporting him will be Jason Pelletier as “Froggy” LeSeur, his Cockney friend, blustery, but good-hearted. Janet Gibson will be Betty Meeks, who’s transformed from a weary, self-pitying widow into a harmonica-playing live wire. Roger Philippon will play the role of the redneck Owen Musser who has a dark side. Pelletier, Gibson and Philippon all appeared in the comedy “Harvey” this past season.

Nathan White assumes the role of Ellard Simms, a lumpy, overgrown, backward youth, but a person who emerges as a hero. Marcel Dubois will be the Rev. David Marshall, a too-good-to-be-true Southern preacher who has more than one skeleton in his closet. Kristin Boucher will appear as Catherine Simms, Marshall’s young and impressionable fiancée.

Winner of Two Obie Awards and Two Outer Critics Circle Awards, ” The Foreigner” is set in Georgia at a rural fishing lodge.

Britt has also assisted in directorial duties in “Harvey,” “Marvin’s Room” and “Evita.” She produced “Annie,” “Brigadoon,” “Secret Garden” and “Oklahoma.”

Her production staff includes Amey Feeley, assistant director; Doreen Traynor, producer; Richard Martin, mentor; Ellen Peters, improv consultant; Dee Pratt, stage manager; Penny Appleby, costumer; Eileen Messina, makeup; Ray Siegler, sound, assisted by Dave Sargent; Martin, lighting; Bill Hamilton, set; Paula Masselli, props; Karen Mayo, decor; Celeste Philippon, program; and Rachel Morin, publicity.
