The elite task force of ABC’s “Threat Matrix” has decided to call in Lady Deathstrike to eliminate potential terrorists. “X2: X-Men United” co-star Kelly Hu will join the drama for at least five episodes, starting next year.
The first of Hu’s appearances on the Thursday night drama will begin production on Monday, Jan. 5, 2004. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hu will play a new member of the show’s central anti-terror government team.
The Hawaiian-born Hu was 1985’s Miss Teen USA. She got her first acting break on “Growing Pains” and has gone on to co-star on “Nash Bridges” and “Martial Law.” Her big screen credits include the “X-Men” sequel as well as “The Scorpion King” and “Cradle 2 the Grave.”
Jenna Elfman
back on sitcom
Jenna Elfman, late of “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” is returning, at least briefly, to the sitcom world.
The former “Dharma & Greg” star will appear on two episodes of CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” later this season, playing a woman who comes between brothers Charlie (Charlie Sheen) and Alan (Jon Cryer). The role reunites her with “Dharma” creator Chuck Lorre, who also created “Two and a Half Men.”
“I’m thrilled to be working again with Chuck Lorre on a fantastic show in a role that’s fun, sexy and challenging,” Elfman says in a statement.
Elfman will play a smart, sexy woman who may be a little looney tunes herself but nonetheless draws the eye of both Charlie and Alan. Viewers will find out who she really is at the end of her first episode, then see the messy situation escalate in the second. Air dates haven’t been set.
Elfman earned three Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win for “Dharma & Greg,” where she played a free-spirited hippie child married to a WASPy lawyer (Thomas Gibson). Her other credits include “Can’t Hardly Wait,” “Keeping the Faith” and the 2002 Lifetime movie “Obsessed.”
Cast for ‘The Grid’
features veterans
TNT has found two familiar faces to star in “The Grid,” its limited series about the war on terrorism.
Dylan McDermott (“The Practice”) and Julianna Margulies (“ER”) have taken lead roles in the six-hour series, a co-production with the BBC that will examine the fight against terrorism from multiple angles. Production is scheduled to begin early next year.
Margulies will play Maya Jackson, a counter-terrorism agent with the National Security Agency. She and FBI agent Mike Canary (McDermott), along with another American and two British agents (yet to be cast), form a team to take out a terrorist cell that wants to shake the foundation of the global economy.
