NORWAY – The Norway Coffeehouse will hold an open mike night Friday, Dec. 26, at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street in Norway.

Sign-up for performers will begin at 6:30, and the open mike will begin at about 7 p.m. Performers of all ages are being encouraged to bring and share their acoustic musical instruments, original music and poetry in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Nonperforming audience members are also being invited to attend. There will be vending opportunities for those artists with merchandise for sale, and refreshments will also be available. In months past, singer-songwriters, magicians, stand-up comedians, poets and dancers, both children and adults, have graced the stage at the Norway church.

Hosted by Maine performer and recording artist Heather Pierson, the open mike nights are also fund-raisers for local nonprofit and charitable agencies, and have raised hundreds of dollars to date for such causes.

For more information, people can call Pierson at 935-4505 or e-mail vesselrecordings@yahoo.com.

Admission is $3. Nonperishable food items will be collected to give to the Oxford Hills Food Pantry.
