LONDONDERRY, N.H. (AP) – Amid record-breaking electricity demand, the new gas-fired energy plant in Londonderry has had to shut down for repairs.

Company officials said AES Granite Ridge went down a week ago due to a problem with the steam turbine generator. Plant manager Peter Bajc said the plant won’t be back on line until sometime late next week.

The shutdown comes as energy officials call on consumers to reduce their electricity consumption. New Hampshire and New England set winter records for peak electricity demand the past few days.
