I’d like to respond the Sunbeam letter, “Not Alone” by Eleanor Delisle (Jan. 13). I agree the Department of Veterans Affairs is needed by our veterans and families.
Just think of last year, government officials had proposed to put five veterans offices on the closing list.
These offices should be left as is. They need to be spread out around Maine for veterans and families.
It seems that some have forgotten what these servicemen and women have done for us civilians. If it wasn’t for our men and women serving their American country, really think, where would we be?
These men from World War II are senior veterans and some are disabled. The same is true for veterans from wars in Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf and now Iraq.
Let’s not take these soldiers for granted and show our respect by leaving those five veteran offices for them to come back to.
