Kate Schrock brings her fine musicianship to Norway for a Valentine’s Day performance.
kate Schrock will return to the intimate space of Fare Share Commons Gallery in Norway for a Saturday, Feb. 14, concert, appropriately called “Music for the Many Faces of Love.”
A Maine native, Schrock is a self-made pianist, singer and songwriter, whose songs are like small vignettes focused on matters of the heart. Her style blends folk, jazz, rock and gospel served up in a passionate fashion.
The Portland Phoenix describes her sound as a “dreamy ether of a voice dancing above her own rolling piano.”
Schrock, who has shared the stage with Taj Mahal and Stephen Stills, recently toured with The Grand Song Caravan, a group of dynamic musicians: Dave Rave from Ontario, Canada; Joe Mannix from New York City; and Paul Hyde from Yorkshire, England. Her influences include Ricky Lee Jones, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Ani Di Franco.
This concert is a chance to fill a romantic night with lyrics of beauty and music of the soul, while relaxing with her spontaneous witty humor that makes audiences lose themselves in laughter between songs, according to a spokesman for the gallery.
Schrock has produced five CDs on her own label, Kakelane Music. Her most recent one, “Indiana,” was recorded in a church in Hamilton, Ontario.
Fare Share Commons Gallery is at 447 Main St. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m. People are being encouraged to arrive early. There will be refreshments and coffee. Tickets will be $12 at the door.
