OXFORD – In the highly-competitive game of business attraction, no amount of effort is excessive.

That’s the philosophy of Barb Olson, vice president of the Growth Council of Oxford Hills. Olson sent out 65 resumes Tuesday to an international financial services company that is considering opening an office in the Oxford Hills.

The company has narrowed its choices of a Maine site between Oxford and a facility in Pittsfield, Olson said.

If they chose Oxford, in the Route 26 call center building being vacated in March by the ICT Group, 50 new jobs will be created, at wages of between $7 and $13 an hour, with generous benefit packages, Olson said. The company wants to open by June 1.

The as-yet unnamed company services individual clients that are applying for federal Housing and Urban Development housing loans and Department of Transportation programs.

It will be another week before Olson knows if her work paid off.

“We’re doing everything we can,” she said.
