In response to the Feb. 18 letter entitled “Barbaric,” David Dostie of Lewiston needs to think about his positions on issues and the way they contradict one another.
I believe everyone is entitled to their own view, so I’ll restrain from attacking his views and speculations, and focus on one aspect of his letter that I found ridiculous.
In his first paragraph, Mr. Dostie states “God gives life and we have no right to take life away.” All right, that makes sense, but less than 200 words later, he states, “It seems to me that politicians and pro-choice activists would rather spare the life of a convicted serial killer or rapist rather than the life of an innocent child in its mother’s womb.”
Although I respect Mr. Dostie’s firm belief in what he feels to be right, I find it troubling that he can say humans have no right to take life away, unless that life belongs to a person who is a criminal. To me that doesn’t make any sense.
