LEWISTON – Boston singer-songwriter Eric Schwartz will play at Just Joan’s Café at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 6. Just Joan’s Café recently opened a second cafe within Mr. Paperback of Lewiston, but all concerts will continue to be at its 33 Lisbon St. location.
Schwartz has only performed in this state at the University of Maine at Orono. Besides writing his own material and singing, he plays the piano and guitar.
Spinning tales, he approaches each song as if it were its own one-man show. Schwartz has been entertaining audiences for more than 10 years in this country and abroad.
He has a degree in biology from Tufts University and a former career as a touring bilingual actor. After studying guitar in Madrid, he spent a year performing on the streets and in the cafés of Europe (He can sing songs in five languages and speaks Spanish and French). Schwartz then moved to Greenwich Village and became a staple on the Village bar scene for five years.
His most recent CD, “Sunday Blue,” is a collection of ballads from jazz to acoustic folk. His two prior CDs are “That’s How It’s Gonna’ Be” and “Pleading the First: Songs My Mother Hates.”
Tickets are available for $8 in advance at Just Joan’s Café (782-9635) and at Mr. Paperback. Tickets at the door on the day of the show will be $10. The café will open at 6 p.m.
