Photographer Murad Sayen
Photographer/author/painter speaking to Camera Club

HALLOWELL – Professional photographer Murad Sayen will present a slide talk at a meeting of the Capital Area Camera Club Tuesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. It will be in the Harlow Art Gallery, 160 Water Street, Hallowell, Maine.

Sayen is the author of a new photography book, “Maine: The Home Place.”

“Over the years,” Sayen says, “I have observed that the rough-hewn landscape that is Maine tends to reveal itself in primeval and elemental ways. Most often, when I peer through a viewfinder, I see earth, air, fire and water, all swirling around each other in a dance as old as the planet. And I have the immensely joyful task of trying to capture it all on film.”

Besides his photographic endeavors, Sayen has been a world-renowned maker of art knives, a painter and a fiction writer (under the name Derek Stockton). He lives in South Paris.

“Maine: The Home Place” was published by University Press of New England in 2003. To view Sayen’s Web site, go to www.ShadowChasers.com.

His talk is open to the public and free.
