Dear Sun Spots: What is the shack that reporters stand in front of at the President’s ranch in Crawford, Texas? – No Name, No Town.
Answer: You might be interested in checking out http://www.crawford-texas.org/index.html where you will find lots on President Bush and his Crawford connections.
In the meantime, according to Valerie Duty of this Web site, the press corps is actually several miles away from Bush’s beloved ranch, broadcasting from beside the middle school gym and in town. An official “filing center” for the traveling media is set up inside the gym with phone lines and high speed Internet capability. The daily briefings are done inside, where the Western White House seal can be seen hanging on the blue drapes behind a White House official spokesman.
The small shed and bales of hay that you see in the correspondents’ live shots are really nestled beside the gym, next to the school’s track with a local farmer’s yard in the background. All the news networks set up tents to house necessary equipment and broadcast from next to the farmer’s barbed wire fence.

Dear Sun Spots: To Mrs. Annette Gosselin: I am a member of the Mary Dillingham Chapter in Lewiston and, when one of our members passes away, we have a graveside ceremony, we place a marker, similar to the Legion one, but imbedded in a square of concrete, which prevents it from being pulled up from the ground. – Martha Beardsley, Livermore.
Dear Sun Spots: For the person asking for chocolate no-bake cookies:
Chocolate Quickies. Ingredients: 2 cups sugar, 1 stick oleo (I use Blue Bonnet), ½ cup of milk, 2 cups semisweet chocolate bits, ½ cup peanut butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 3 cups quick oatmeal (uncooked). Method: Measure chocolate bits, peanut butter and oatmeal so they will be ready to use. Put the first three ingredients in a very large saucepan. Cook, stirring all the time. Bring to a full boil, then time it for exactly one minute. Take off the heat. Add chocolate bits, peanut butter and vanilla. Stir until bits are all melted. Add oatmeal and stir until oatmeal is all chocolate coated. Put on waxed paper in large teaspoonfuls. Let set several hours.
Dear Sun Spots: Does anyone have a copy of the 1977 Mt. Blue yearbook? I would like to replace my son’s. He graduated that year and lost his when his home was destroyed in the 1997 flood in Grand Forks, N.D. Thanks. – Roy Stewart, New Vineyard.
Dear Sun Spots: You have helped me several times. Thank you. Now, I would like to know if a tip is expected when someone delivers flowers to your door?
A fee is usually charged for delivery out of town ($5 to Greene) but is a tip still necessary? – No Name, No Town.
Answer: According to www.findalink.net, you should be tipping $2 to $5 for normal deliveries and $5 to $10 for large ones.
In addition, according to http://people.howstuffworks.com/tipping3.htm, flower deliveries and large deliveries, such as for furniture, have differing tipping standards.
Depending on the distance, you might tip the pizza delivery person $2 to $5. Flower deliveries are usually tipped $1 to $10, with the higher amounts going to especially large or multiple arrangements. Large deliveries like furniture usually require $5 to $10 per person, with more for extra service.
