We at “Newsmakers” generally eschew politics for the far more noble world of salacious celebrity gossip. But we are intrigued by two reports that display the lofty, informed gravitas of contemporary political dialogue. In the first, the New York Post reports that designer lingerie company Agent Provocateur has filmed a music video for play in Britain in which dominatrix model Dita Von Teese (fiancee of cherished American vocalist Marilyn Manson) flogs a briefs-wearing President Bush look-alike.

Meanwhile, the New York Daily News says photographer Larry Fink is wowing Gotham art lovers with an exhibition called “The Forbidden Pictures,” featuring photos of a Bush look-alike groping women. One of the photos caused a ruckus at Lehigh University in February when it was exhibited there. Fink says the women being groped are “a metaphor for our foreign policy.”

We must admit we are far too much of philistines to be able to comprehend such profound metaphors.
