KINGFIELD – With summer well under way, Kingfield residents are now looking forward to their annual Kingfield Days celebration from Thursday, July 22, through Sunday, July 25.

The celebration kicks off Thursday with a cribbage tournament at the Herbert Grand Hotel. Prizes will be awarded at the tournament.

Some highlights for this year’s weekend-long celebration include the crowning of Miss Kingfield and a street dance afterward, a contradance with the Yankees Soul Review, mud football, and a Carrabassett Wet and Wild Whatever Floats Race sponsored by Gifts of Love.

There will also be a grand parade that steps off at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Several musical performances are expected during the weekend, including the debut performances from a local band called The Bullocks, The Chesapeake DJs, and the Mill City Ramblers.

Older folks will enjoy the music of Bob Myshrall and Friends during Sunday’s public potluck dinner. Town officials said the Sunday event will provide a “great relaxed atmosphere” and is “great for the mellower, older folks, as well younger folk.”

All of the Kingfield Days musical events are free and open to the public. The event will be held rain or shine.

Also, the Kingfield Historical Society will be celebrating its 40th anniversary during its annual open house at the former Frank and Effie Hutchins House.
