JAY – A safe containing a substantial amount of money was stolen Friday from an Oak Street house.

Sgt. Charles Keene is investigating the theft of the safe that police said occurred between noon and 3 p.m.

The occupant had left the home during that time and returned home to find the safe missing, Jay Police Chief Larry White Sr. said.
