BRUNSWICK – The Maine State Music Theatre’s intern company is producing and performing “The Adventures of Peter Rabbit.”

The interns come from throughout the country, including Maine, for on-the-job training under the supervision of theater professionals. The musical’s set was designed and built by the interns.

When Peter sneaks into Farmer McGregor’s garden, he gets more than he bargained for, just as in the classic children’s story by Beatrix Potter. The mischievous Peter learns the nature of responsibility.

The director, Larry Raiken, is a veteran Maine State Music Theatre actor.

He also is on the faculty of the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

The show has a book by Michael Slade, lyrics by Faye Greenberg and music by Peter Gialoretto.

It was originally commissioned and produced by TheatreWorks/USA of New York City.

This show closes out Maine State Music Theatre’s Theatre for Young Audiences summer repertoire this year.

There will be two performances on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., in Pickard Theater on the Bowdoin College campus.

Tickets are $6 and $10 and are available at the box office, which is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..

Tickets may also be purchased by phone at (207) 725-8769, ext. 5.
