FARMINGTON – Karleen Andrews of Farmington has been hired as the new manager of Titcomb Ski Slope. Andrews will direct and supervise the overall operations of the nonprofit community ski area in Farmington. She will officially begin her new duties Sept. 1.

Andrews moved to Farmington with her family in 2002. She brings to the position skills she developed during her careers in the ski and forest industries. She holds a bachelor of science degree in forestry from the University of Maine, is a licensed forester in Maine, and is a certified Alpine Level 1 PSIA instructor.

Most recently, Andrews was foreman for the Mountain Magic program at Sugarloaf, a position that required strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate with the public, customers and resort staff.

“I am excited to join the Titcomb team of members, volunteers and staff. I believe that Titcomb Mountain is a wonderful asset for our community and I look forward to working with everyone involved to help continue the special and unique qualities of Titcomb Mountain,” Andrews said.

“We are very fortunate to have a new manager who is experienced in both the business of skiing and forestry. We’re looking forward to a great season this winter and we’re confident Karleen can make it a successful season too,” said Peter Judkins, president of the Titcomb Ski Slope Association.

Titcomb Ski Slope is a small family-oriented ski area, offering both alpine and nordic skiing with a number of programs for children and adults. The slope has paid employees, but relies heavily on the volunteer efforts of its members.
