LIVERMORE FALLS – An 88-year-old woman was injured Thursday when she drove her car out of her driveway and collided with a vehicle hauling a boat. The newer-style fishing boat was knocked off the trailer and skidded about 50 feet down Route 133.
Jennie Mercier of Livermore Falls pulled out of her driveway at 289 Park St. and struck the passenger-side door of a Ford Explorer driven by Philip Tremblay, 56, of Jay, Livermore Falls police Officer Brock Caton said. Park Street is also known as Route 133.
Mercier sustained a cut to her head and was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, the officer said. Further information was not available from the hospital.
Tremblay and his wife, Judy Tremblay, 57, were heading south on the road and were not injured, Caton said.
The accident happened about 1:12 p.m. north of Isaacson Lumber Co. and south of Hinkley Hill.
Livermore Falls firefighters directed traffic, which was slowed for 30 to 45 minutes, while Caton investigated the accident.
Mercier’s Ford Escort was a total loss, Caton said.
Tremblay’s Explorer had damage to the passenger side, and the trailer was damaged on the right side, Caton said. The boat had a dent on the right side, and it is unknown what the bottom of the boat looked like after it skidded on the asphalt, he said.
All three people were wearing seat belts, Caton said, and Mercier’s airbag deployed.
