STRONG – Eileen Miazga hopes to change the perception of the town of Strong. She feels that since the town has recently lost several large businesses, people have a perception that there is no business there.
According to her research, there are at least 115 businesses in the town of about 1,200 residents. She is working with people from several organizations and the community to form a group dedicated to the community’s businesses and economic growth.
Included in the initial group are Deborah Burd of the Western Mountains Alliance and Alison Hagerstrom of the Greater Franklin Development Corp., who will help to start the organization, which will meet next week.
Miazga, owner of EJ’s Market on Main Street, said that area businesses include plumbers, electricians, mechanics, masons and gardeners. She also noted that several new homes are under construction in the community, and that their owners could benefit from knowing that the small businesses exist.
The group will be meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Forster Building in Strong.
