Louis Godin’s letter to the editor (Sept. 6) reveals a lot about the true motivation behind the liberals’ vitriolic Bush-bashing campaign in this country and abroad. In defending the media and the Democrats’ criticism of the president, Mr. Godin explains it in this way: “They’ll never do enough to him to suit me after the way the Republican cronies treated President Clinton …”

I thought revenge was supposed to be politically incorrect these days, or is it that one more media myth down the toilet. I’ve suspected all along that the obscene attacks on President Bush were in retaliation for the impeachment of President Clinton and the various investigations of his corrupt administration.

In other words, if Alan Keyes had received the nomination and then won the election the way Bush did, he would be compared to Hitler as well? It would be almost laughable if we weren’t in this fight for the future of the free world, whereby this type of baseless criticism of the president only serves to aid and abet the enemy.

George Bush and his team are defending our country, not trying to rule the world. It’s about time we start getting serious about national security and support our commander in chief, because I can’t bear the thought of American kids being tortured the way those poor Russians were. As President Bush said after Sept. 11, if you’re not with us, you’re against us.

It’s time to forgo revenge and drop the demagoguery.
