RANGELEY – The Rangeley Lakes Region Logging Museum invites the public to taste what Maine apples have to offer at its 11th annual Apple Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Main Street.

A beef stew luncheon will begin at 11 a.m., and Klara Haines and other volunteers will serve hot dogs, sandwiches, apple desserts and more.

Inside the church, all kinds of homemade baked goods, many made with apples, will be for sale, including pies, breads, jellies, muffins and cookies. Crafts from throughout the region, and a white elephant table, will fill the church undercroft.

Among the offerings will be wood crafts, knit goods, homemade doughnuts and breads, place mats, toy moose, Christmas items, ceramics and cookbooks. The museum will offer its publications, “Logging in the Maine Woods: the Paintings of Alden Grant and Working the Woods,” as well as T-shirts and sweatshirts.

On the church lawn, Richard Hill will lead other volunteers as they demonstrate apple-pressing and cider-making. Visitors are welcome to bring their own apples to be pressed.

Admission to the festival is free. More information may be obtained by calling Rodney and Lucille Richard at 864-5595.
