LIVERMORE – Jerry Williams, chairman of the Planning Board, closed the Tuesday night meeting by asking members to attend a hearing on the sexually oriented businesses ordinance on Oct. 4 in Livermore Falls.

That hearing will be on the proposed ordinance, which will be on the Nov. 2 ballot in Livermore Falls. Livermore officials are also studying the ordinance, which is based on one from the town of Farmingdale.

In addition to the hearing, planners also asked the selectpersons to consider the best interests of the community, if necessary proposing a moratorium on such businesses to avoid having one in Livermore.

Planners opened Tuesday;s session with a public hearing on site-plan applications by Martin, Tammy and Real Castonguay for the former Lakeshore Motel, and by Dick and Diane Tracy for a doughnut production facility and drive-through retail sales site on Route 4.

After a thorough review of each, and a site visit to Lakeshore, both plans were approved. Planners noted that a lot had been done to the former motel buildings and complimented the trio.

The board was told the Livermore Fire Department would be burning the old motel units across the road as a training exercise.

In other business, the board approved a 12-month extension sought by Gary Boilard of Sabattus on his self-storage units on Berry Hill. The original application by Toby Kachnovich called for three additional structures, two of which have been completed. The extension will give Boilard time to complete the third.

Surveyor Jim Kachnovich made an initial presentation for a residential subdivision on behalf of Barry Therrien, who wishes to develop a parcel between Route 4 and Butterhill Road.

He has conveyed a .67 acres to Andy and Marlene Witham, who own an adjacent parcel, and plans to have a private road, Bob’s Way, for access to three lots.

His son will have a 3.16-acre lot with 450 feet of road frontage. A second lot of 1.70 acres, with 300 feet of frontage, will be for sale, and he will retain the remainder as the third lot, 7.96 acres adjacent to his home on Butterhill Road. Katherine Botka recently purchased another lot with a building from the same parcel.

Several changes were needed on the plan, and the applicants will return with updated information at the Oct. 19 meeting.
