LIVERMORE FALLS – Law enforcement and fire officials from the Tri-Town area were on hand at the Town Office Wednesday night to address the needs of the community.
They met with representatives from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, who are working to develop an easy-to-use resource and preparedness guide for the area.
They have done a similar leaflet for Winslow and had hoped to produce one to serve the Tri-Town area.
The emergency personnel explained that the three towns receive services from two counties, and that four police units and three fire departments are involved, each with separate dispatching sources.
After discussing the various agencies that serve the towns, the organizers agreed that three lists would be needed.
The guide will include information on emergency services through E-911, nonemergency numbers for police and fire, how to handle dog complaints, obtain a burn permit, dispose of toxic waste, transfer station hours, and other municipal information.
Ruth Saint Amand, Peggy Taylor and Kevin Morrissey, who are heading the project, will now take their message to local groups, such as senior citizens and neighborhood watches, to gather more information on their needs.
Meeting with the RSVP group Wednesday were Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. and Fire Chief Ken Jones of Livermore Falls; Police Chief Larry White and Assistant Fire Chief Jim Shink of Jay; Fire Chief Randy Berry and Assistant Don Castonguay of Livermore; and Androscoggin County Deputy Sheriff Timothy Kachnovich.
