FARMINGTON – A special town meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Community Center to discuss the impact of the Palesky tax-cap proposal. The town manager and selectmen hope to have budget committee members and town department heads there.

The public is invited to come armed with questions about the referendum. The meeting will open with a brief dedication of the center’s new seating.

In other matters before the selectmen Tuesday night, the board met for one hour before going to executive session to discuss the town manager’s annual review. Selectman Mark Cayer was not in attendance.

The board approved the town’s third-quarter sewer commitment with no change to rates. A rate reduction could be possible once bonds are paid off, which will be in approximately eight years, Town Manager Richard Davis said.

Science teacher Alisa Lee of Knowlton Corner Road was unanimously approved as the newest member of the town’s zoning board. Lee has been a Farmington resident for nine years and has a master of science degree from Texas A&M. She has also studied economics at Thomas College. There are still two vacancies on the zoning board.

Emily Floyd, who previously served on the Budget Committee, was approved to fill one of two regular positions. The committee is still missing one regular member and one alternate. Community members interested in serving on the zoning board or budget committee are asked to contact Richard Davis at the Town Office.

Selectmen discussed the possibility of planting a shrub rather than a tree in Roger Perry’s name as a living memorial in town. Donations for the memorial are still being accepted.
