FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Players have opened their season with a production of “The Fantasticks.”

Performances continue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2; and Oct. 8 and 9; with a 2 p.m. matinee Oct. in the Mt. Blue High School auditorium. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Howard’s Rexall or at the door. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8.50 for seniors and students.

When it closed in New York City after a run of 40 years, “The Fantasticks” held the record as the world’s longest running musical. This production of the comedy is directed by Jane Parker.

Cast entirely with local talent, The Fantasticks, is the story of a boy and a girl who fall in love, in spite of a long-standing “feud” between their two fathers.

This production features an unusual set, imaginative costumes, sometimes wild antics and beautiful music, according to a spokesman.
