Do you know who might be collecting new and used stamps? I have a bunch that I would like someone to make good use of them. Thank you. – Mary Swift, Gray.
Answer: Canceled postage stamps can be sent to Sister Gilberte Boisvert, 24 Deni Circle, Lewiston, ME 04240. She no longer accepts just any stamps. Send her any foreign stamps or any uncancelled stamps from both the United States and foreign countries. Those sending in stamps should leave about a 1/3-inch border of paper around the stamp so it is undamaged.
Dear Sun Spots: I am interested in knowing of any area chess tournaments that would welcome a 14½-year-old to the event. He has expressed interest in playing with others who will offer a challenge for him. Any help would be appreciated. I can be reached at 782-7657. – E. Therriault, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: Where’s Barbara Barr? Just wondering. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: Sun Spots checked with Dave Eid of WGME who says sportscaster Barbara Barr has decided to leave the television business and return home to her native Pennsylvania. Eid says she is missed by many.
Dear Sun Spots: Can you tell me where I can get some real clothesline rope? I got some last year in the Rumford area and it has broken already. I use my lines constantly, pulley lines, and I need the good rope – something that will last and not have to be replaced every year.
Also, could someone out there find an address for Talat Rashid. She used to live in the Rumford area with her husband and three girls. She is a very close friend of mine and I cannot find her address. Thank you. Keep up the good work. – J.E.P.M., No Town.
