CHESTERVILLE – The town’s tax rate has dropped more than $4 per $1,000 of property valuation after a revaluation was done over the last year.

The tax rate now is set at $14.90 per $1,000 of assessed value, down from about $19.06 per $1,000 last year, Selectman David Archer said.

It was the first revaluation in the town since 1990, he said.

Many people questioned their new valuations and wanted them reviewed, Archer said.

Once all the glitches are ironed out, Archer said, the revaluation will be considered completed.
