FARMINGTON – The Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association will hold an apple festival on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the school site on Route 4. Donations are needed, as well as apple-related items for a white elephant table. Items such as apple trinkets, peelers, books or tablecloths are being sought. The festival will have a cider-making demonstration and cider for all, plus other demonstrations and a pie contest. Elks starting antlers group
FARMINGTON – The Elks Lodge is starting an Antlers Program for young people ages 12 to 21. An organizational meeting will begin 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the lodge on School Street in West Farmington. Parents are invited to attend this meeting, too.
The Antlers group will set its own agenda for future meetings and programs, with the guidance of an advisory committee.

Community meal to start Saturday
FARMINGTON – The community luncheons at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street are resuming, and the first luncheon this fall will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the church. The meals are offered free to members of the community, and all are welcome. The menu for this October meal includes corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots, biscuits and apple bars and cake for dessert. The monthly meals are offered October through March each year. Benefit walk-athon set for Saturday
WILTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will hold its annual fund-raising walk-athon Saturday, Oct. 16, at Kineowatha Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The event will begin at 9 a.m., and participants may walk either 1.5 miles or five miles. Parents are welcome to bring children to meet Daren the Lion and McGruff the crime-fighting dog. Anyone who raises $25 or more will be eligible for raffle drawings of items donated by local businesses.

Elks’ basket bingo
FARMINGTON – Farmington Elks’ annual basket bingo will be Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Elks Lodge. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and bingo starts at 1 p.m. Longaberger baskets are given as prizes.
