WILTON – Planners approved two auto sales applications when they met Tuesday.

Planners granted a permit to Nate Knowles to add auto sales to his business on Route 2, where he sells ATVs, snowmobiles and motorcycles. Knowles purchased Eagles Sports Shop last year, under his Mainiac Offroad Corp. He said the former owner had a used-car dealership license dating back to 1995.

Planning Board Chairman Keith Swett said the town has no record that a dealership ever existed there.

Knowles said he plans to have no more than eight vehicles parked in the front lot at one time. He will continue to operate the sports shop as well.

Planners also granted a permit for Donald Dionne to operate an auto sales business from his Double D Cleaners business on Route 2. Dionne said he will have no more than 10 cars parked on the lot at one time.

Planners intended to discuss road and subdivision road requirements as well as the possibility of being able to give a waiver for a minor subdivision. They also intended to discuss conflicts in the town’s subdivision ordinance and proposed changes. They were unable to hold the discussion because Code Enforcement Officer Katherine Shoaps had a family emergency. They will continue to discuss those issues at a later date.
