LIVERMORE FALLS – Richard Fraser of Poland will present a slide show of automobiles at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the American Legion Post on Reynolds Avenue.

The program is part of the monthly meeting of the Livermore-Livermore Falls Historical Society. The meeting begins at noon with a potluck luncheon. Fraser’s program will follow. Visitors are welcome to attend the program at 1 p.m.

Fraser has published a book about early autos designed and constructed in Maine. His slide program will include many of the autos made in Lewiston, center of American tinkers and auto enthusiasts, including the Stanley brothers. He will show slides of Lester Whitman, Turner native, who drove one of three cars in a race across America in 1903.

Photos of Ira T. Monroe’s 1909 Ford will be shown. Monroe bought the first auto in Livermore from Skene Brothers in Lewiston. The red, black and brass antique is owned by Norman Rose of Auburn and is included in the color section of “Androscoggin County, Maine: A Pictorial Sesquicentennial History, 1854-2004.” Copies of the county celebration book are on sale at Book Nook on Main Street.
