FARMINGTON – A video titled “The Carlyle Connection” will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in Ricker Addition, Room 217, on the University of Maine at Farmington campus. “The Carlyle Connection” details information about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Saudi investments in the United States, and corporate connections to the Carlyle Group. One of the largest private investment companies in the world and located a few blocks from the White House, the Carlyle Group has been called the world’s most powerful private equity firm.
The public is invited to come and learn about the interconnections of government and big business. A discussion will be facilitated by attorney Pam Prodan. The film is free.
Red Ribbon Week programs
FARMINGTON – In celebration of Red Ribbon Week at Cascade Brook School, several programs have been planned at the school through Friday, Oct. 29. The theme for this year’s Red Ribbon Week is “I Elect to be Drug Free.” A program for parents and teachers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, in the school cafetorium. All parents are welcome.
Election-year economics
FARMINGTON – Economist Roy Van Till will present a program, “Economic Factors in Presidential Elections,” at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in Room C-23 of Roberts Learning Center at the University of Maine at Farmington. Van Till will discuss trends and historical precedents for presidential elections.
The presentation will include a colorful show of maps, charts and slides. A question-and-answer period will also be held. The public is invited to attend.
Halloween contest
FARMINGTON – The annual Halloween window painting contest will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, on Broadway. The contest is sponsored by the Farmington Business and Professional Association.
Christian concert
KINGFIELD – A concert featuring Equal Access, a Christian rock-contemporary band, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Kingfield Elementary School. Admission is $4.
The concert is sponsored by Impact Youth Group from Western Mountain Baptist Church.
