KINGFIELD – Selectmen will take up several issues at their meeting Monday night.

First Selectman John Dill will announce the town will be closing on the sale of the new fire station Wednesday at Paul Mills’ office in Farmington. The cost of the property on Commercial Street currently owned by Jordan Lumber will be $285,000. Town residents voted to spend $300,000 for the station in June.

According to Dill, the ambulance bill the town recently received from the hospital for $15,371 may not, in fact, be a bill. It is unclear if the towns are expected to pay, he said, adding that he discerned this from a discussion with Carrabassett Valley Town Manager Dave Cota.

“It was just a letter,” said Dill. “We can’t do anything with it until the next town meeting in March. We didn’t budget that money.”

With winter and snow on their minds, selectmen will discuss issues with on-street parking. The town has not needed to call for a parking ban on snowy days in recent years but, according to Dill, that practice may need to be reinstated. He’s not sure how the ban could be enforced without a constable but towing might be an option.

There have been several noise complaints about a go-cart race track located off Tufts Pond Road, said Dill Friday. He has asked the code enforcement officer to look into the matter saying the planning board approved the track with several restrictions – a decibel level was specified, the track needs to close by sunset and no more than 30 cars can be operating on it at any given time.

“There will probably need to be some compromise there,” said Dill.

Also on the agenda will be a reminder of an upcoming public hearing about traffic calming plans to be held Nov. 18 and an appeal for volunteers for the budget committee.
