FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington Concert Band will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall on the UMF campus.
The featured work on the program is Shadowcatcher, a concerto for brass quintet and band by contemporary composer Eric Ewazen. The piece was inspired by photographs of American Indians. Performing will be the Laid Back Brass Quintet, including Ray Phillips and Eric Haase, trumpets; Cynthia Harkleroad, horn; Brian Strothmann, trombone; and Ron Small, tuba, performing the solo parts. Karen Beacham is conducting.
Also included on the program is John Philip Sousa’s Transit of Venus March to mark the transit of Venus that took place last June. Some seasonal favorites and St. Louis Blues round out the program.
Admission is $6 for adults, $3.50 for senior citizens and free for children under 13 and UMF students with ID.
