MONMOUTH – Robert C. Crockett, 67, of Monmouth, died Saturday, April 2, at home with his family by his side, following a long illness.
He was born in Rockland on Feb. 3, 1938. He moved to South Portland with his parents, Langdon and Amy (Fuller) Crockett. He graduated from South Portland High School in 1956.
He received his Bachelor’s of science in agricultural science from the University of Maine in 1964 where he was a member of Phi Mu Delta.
On Feb. 4, 1961, he married Janice Stevenson in Portland.
He began his career in the apple industry at Highmoor Farms and worked as an orchard manager for various growers in the 1960s. He retired in 1998 after 30 years as a sales representative for FMC Corp. and AgChem Services.
“Bob” enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and University of Maine sports. He also enjoyed gardening, puzzles and collecting model tractors. He took particular joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice S. Crockett, of Monmouth; a son, Randy Crockett of Waterford; daughter, Karen J. Champagne and her husband, Mark, of West Gardiner; grandchildren, Ben and Kaitlin Crockett and Rebecca and Jessica Champagne; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents.
