BETHEL — Jillian Kimball and Jessie Farrington combined for eight strikeouts and scattered six hits over six innings as they led Telstar to a 9-2 win over Livermore Falls in their softball season opener.

The Rebels (1-0) got the benefit of a four-hit, four-RBI showing by Chelsea Cozzolino, while Farrington added three hits and an RBI. Catcher Liz Rosenberg picked off two batters and tossed in an RBI single to help put the game out of reach.

Rachel Vintrella had an RBI single in the first inning for the Andies (1-2), but Livermore Falls would not score again until the sixth. Cassandra Perrington allowed eight runs in five innings of work and was saddled with the loss.

Oxford Hills 1, Lawrence 0

SOUTH PARIS – Tierra Durgin came home on an error, as a courtesy runner for pitcher Randi Arsenault, who singled, for the lone run as Oxford Hills nipped Lawrence 1-0 in KVAC softball action Tuesday.

The Vikings (2-1) received excellent pitching from Arsenault in the two-hit shutout.

Malloney Blakney had the only extra base hit in the game with a double for the Bulldogs (2-1). Lawrence committed two errors, including the costly overthrow to second base that allowed Durgin to score.

Brunswick 5, Lewiston 2

LEWISTON – With two outs, Jess Timmreck singled in McKell Barnes in the 11th inning for the eventual game-winner as Brunswick notched a 5-2 win over Lewiston in KVAC softball action Tuesday.

The Dragons (3-0) lit up the board first with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Barnes led off with a triple and later scored on an error.

The Blue Devils (1-1) knotted the game in the seventh frame on back-to-back doubles by Kim Bechard and Jess Nadeau. Nadeau scored on an error.

Poland 3, Wells 1

WELLS – Kelli O’Connor scattered three hits and struck out 10 batters to pace Poland to a 3-1 victory over Wells in another WMC softball matchup Tuesday.

Rachel Roberts belted out a home run for the Knights (3-0), while Robyn Gauthier added two hits.

Nicole Desjardins had two of the Warriors’ (1-2) three hits, including a home run. Hannah Knight handled pitching duties, allowing six hits in seven innings to take the loss.

Oak Hill 5, Rockland 3

WALES – Magan Blais ripped an RBI triple in the third inning to lift Oak Hill to a 5-3 victory over Rockland in another KVAC softball matchup. Danni Potvin, Sarah Radovich, Kristen Eaton and Ashley Malinowski all chipped in for the Raiders (1-1) with two hits each. Potvin also handled pitching duties and picked up the win.

Diane Clark belted out a home run to lead Rockland’s (0-2) offensive effort, while Lindsey Barnes went 2-for-4. Jackie Connell allowed five runs in seven innings and was saddled with the loss.

Mountain Valley 15, Hall-Dale 5

RUMFORD — Abbey Mills pitched five innings of one-hit ball for Mountain Valley as the Falcons rolled over Hall-Dale, 15-5, in an MVC softball game Tuesday.

Mallory Thurston provided the offensive spark for the Falcons (1-0) with two triples in the game. Kristen Arsenault also had a triple while Kaley Bernard added a double.

Mt. Abram 8, Monmouth 0

MONMOUTH – Katie Walker scattered two hits and got strong support at the plate as Mt. Abram rolled over Monmouth 8-0 in more MVC softball action.

Sadie White and Asia Burrill led the offensive effort for the Roadrunners (1-1) with two hits apiece.

Kayla Chick worked the mound for the Mustangs (0-1), fanning 11 batters but allowing four runs in the first three innings.
