WELLS – Max Levine threw eight strikeouts, scattered seven hits and had four RBIs at the plate to lead Poland to a 6-3 victory over Wells in baseball action on Monday.
Levine ripped a home run to cap a stellar day on the diamond. Alex Smith chipped in for the Knights (3-0) with a double.
Nick Laude and Jim Walker led Wells (1-1) with two hits apiece, while Brandon Hodson handled pitching duties. Hodson had no strikeouts and was credited with the loss.
Buckfield 19, Averill 2
BUCKFIELD — Jamie Henderson and Matt Lowell combined for 10 strikeouts and held the opposing batters to just two hits as Buckfield cruised to an easy 19-2 victory over Averill in E-WC baseball play Tuesday.
Henderson also sparked the Buckfield (1-0) offense with a two-hit, three-RBI performance.
Cy Wilkinson, Dylan Emery and Josh Emery added two RBIs each for the Bucks. Buckfield led 9-2 heading into the fourth inning before exploding for 10 runs.
Brian Rowles had two hits, including a double for the Beavers (0-1).
Rockland 4, Oak Hill 3
WALES — Ben Sturks had two hits and knocked in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning to lift Rockland to a 4-3 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC baseball action Tuesday.
Ryan Peterson pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win for Rockland (2-0) after coming in as a reliever in the seventh inning.
Josh Fog added three hits and knocked in a run while Wade Oliver had two hits, including an RBI single.
Mike Eaton held Rockland to three runs over seven innings of work for Oak Hill (0-2), striking out 10 batters and only walking one.
Livermore Falls 7, Telstar 1
BETHEL – Dane Hanson scattered four hits and received good support at the plate as Livermore Falls rolled past Telstar 7-1 in MVC baseball action Tuesday.
Charles Lake drove home Tyler Cote on a groundout which actually proved to be the winning run. Jake Marceau led the Andies (2-1) with two hits.
Josh Longway allowed six runs in six innings on the mound for the Rebels (0-1).
Jay 17, Dirigo 7
DIXFIELD — Steve Nelson drove in four runs on the strength of a double and a triple as Jay defeated Dirigo 17-7 in another MVC baseball matchup Tuesday.
Justin Wells had a four-hit, three-RBI performance for the Tigers (2-1), including a home run. Zane Armandi also homered and drove in three runs for Jay.
Ryan Depompo pitched two innings for Jay to earn the win and also had a triple.
Kevin Merrill and Chris Robbins each drove in a run for Dirigo (0-2) in the loss.
Oxford Hills 10, Lawrence 0
SOUTH PARIS — Chris Roy pitched two shutout innings of relief and knocked in four runs to lead Oxford Hills to a 10-0 victory over Lawrence in KVAC baseball play Tuesday.
Roy smacked a double with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to cut the game short thanks to the 10-run rule. Matt McDonnell was the starting pitcher for Oxford Hills (3-0) and combined with Roy to hold Lawrence to just one hit. Kyle Keniston added three RBIs on the power of a single and a fielder’s choice.
Garrett Parker took the loss for Lawrence (1-2), going three innings and giving up six runs.
Brunswick 7, Lewiston 3
LEWISTON — Justin Clark went the distance for Brunswick as the Dragons defeated Lewiston 7-3 in another varsity baseball game Tuesday. Nate Wahlrobe got the offense rolling for Brunswick (2-1) with a two-hit performance.
Ryan Dube was the losing pitcher for the Blue Devils (0-2), going three innings and surrendering three runs. Lewiston was plagued by shaky defense, committing eight errors in the game.
Monmouth 8, Mt. Abram 7
WINTHROP – Sean Holbrook notched his first victory on the mound as Monmouth narrowly slipped away with an 8-7 win over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball action Tuesday.
The Mustangs (3-0) pounded out seven hits, while committing three errors in adverse field conditions. Ben Seefeldt, Andy Bellmore and Devin Robbins each had a double in the Monmouth win.
The Roadrunners (0-1) experienced a little more difficulty in the field as they committed five errors, while only achieving three hits. Mt. Abram rallied for three runs in the sixth inning, but could not produce the equalizer in the final frame.
