CUMBERLAND – Tyler Merchant had three hits and singled in the eventual game-winner as Poland snapped up a 5-2 win over Greely in WMC baseball action Wednesday.
The Knights (5-1) were tied up 2-2 in the seventh inning when Jeremy Callahan led off with a single. Merchant singled in Callahan.
Mountain Valley 11, Georges Valley 2
RUMFORD — Korey Staires went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs to lift Mountain Valley to an 11-2 victory over Georges Valley. Marcus Palmer pitched three scoreless innings and struck out six batters for the Falcons (4-0).
Mt. Ararat 4, Mt. Blue 3
FARMINGTON — Joe Condon hit an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to lift Mt. Ararat to a 4-3 victory over Mt. Blue. Pitchers Nick Tibbetts and Will Unterkuffler combined for nine strikeouts and each had a double for the Cougars (4-2).
St. Dom’s 13, Traip 0
KITTERY — John Rutt struck out seven batters in five innings of one hit baseball as St. Dom’s cruised past Traip 13-0.
Rutt helped himself out offensively with a two run home run. John Emerson launched a three run bomb while Michael Carpenter chipped in with a two run shot for the Saints (4-0).
Oxford Hills 6, Morse 2
SOUTH PARIS – Kelvin DeCato doubled and tripled to lead Oxford Hills to a 6-2 win over Morse. The Vikings (6-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI triple by DeCato and an RBI single by Derek Varney.
Winthrop 2, Mt. Abram 0
WINTHROP – Travis Frautten singled in two runs in the first inning for the only runs of the game as Winthrop notched a 2-0 win over Mt. Abram.
Chip Burnham improved his record to 4-0 with his 2-hit, eight strikeout performance.
Gould 10, Pine Tree Academy 0
BETHEL – Will Carver belted a pair of hits and threw a shutout on the mound as Gould rolled over Pine Tree Academy 10-0. TJ Savage chipped in for Gould (5-3) with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Edward Little 7, Lawrence 5
AUBURN — Edward Little overcame a 5-0 deficit with a seven run explosion in the bottom of the sixth inning to come back and beat Lawrence 7-5.
Edward Little’s (4-2) comeback was highlighted by a three-run double by Justin Ciszewski and a two-run single by Derek Doucette. EL got four innings of one hit relief from Jason Marcum.
MCI 8, Oak Hill 5
WALES — Andrew Bethune and Victor Quint struck out a combined total of eight hitters for MCI as they battled their way to an 8-5 win over Oak Hill.
Mike Eaton, Eric Daniels, and Josh Jillson each doubled for the Raiders (1-4).
Monmouth 10, Hall-Dale 6
MONMOUTH – Scott Ogden smashed a pair of RBI doubles to pace Monmouth to a 10-6 victory over Hall-Dale. Kyle Pelletier and Cameron Saucier chipped in with doubles for the undefeated Mustangs (7-0). Andy Bellmore picked up the win, shutting down the Bulldogs (0-5) completely for four innings.
Telstar 4, Jay 2
FARMINGTON – Ryan Savage ripped an RBI double in the seventh innig to lift Telstar to a 4-2 victory over Jay.
August Reiss belted out an RBI triple for the Rebels (3-2), while Terry Collins scattered four hits in a complete game. Catcher Nate Bourassa led the Tigers (4-2) with an RBI double.
Lacrosse
Mt. Blue 11, Oak Hill 9
WALES — Zach Frechette tallied four goals and two assists to lead Mt. Blue to an 11-9 win over Oak Hill in KVAC lacrosse action.
Nate Pickrell added three runs and three assists for the Cougars (3-1) while Evan Xanthos finished with two goals and four assists. Goaltender Justin Davis notched 30 saves for Mt. Blue. Casey Behny led all scorers with five goals and added two assists for the Raiders (1-3).
St. Dom’s 12, Wells 2
AUBURN — Andrew Nadeau, Tavian MacKinnon, Andrew Gilbert, and Tyler Martin netted two goals apiece for St. Dom’s as they cruised to a 12-2 victory over Wells.
The Saints (2-1) got a strong, seven save effort from goaltender Brian Kasabian who effectively kept the Wells offense quiet.
Lewiston 5, Messalonskee 3
LEWISTON – Travis LeBrun scored a goal and two assists to lead Lewiston to a 5-3 win over Messalonskee. Bobby Labbe contributed three assists for the Blue Devils (3-1)
Tilton 9, Hebron 4
HEBRON – Phil Hunter collected four goals for Tilton as they chugged along for a 9-4 win over Hebron.
Andrew Rosenau contributed a goal and two assists, while Toby White had a goal and an assist for Hebron (6-5).
