LIVERMORE FALLS – Jake Morceau blasted a three-run homer to left-center in the bottom of the fifth inning to propel Livermore Falls to a 5-3 win over Wiscasset in MVC baseball action on Thursday.

Wiscasset took the early lead on a Ben Emery home run with one aboard in the top of the first inning, but it was all the runs the Redskins would produce as Brad Bryant (3-0) spun a nifty three-hitter for the Andies (4-3), striking out five in the complete game victory.

Karlton Jones had a two-run home run to knot the game at 2-all in the bottom of the fourth inning, setting the stage for Marceau’s game-winning shot. Karlton Jones and Zack Keene had a pair of hits each in the win.

Ben Mertzell took the loss.

Mt. Ararat 17, Leavitt 0

TURNER – Keenan Barker twirled a complete game shutout, striking out three, walking none, as Mt. Ararat downed Leavitt 17-0 in KVAC baseball action on Thursday.

Jordan Bichrest and Joe Condon each drilled three safeties, including a home run in the lopsided win as the Eagles (7-0) remained perfect on the young season.

Curt Knight mustered the only extra base hit (double) for the Hornets (2-5). Sean Doyle took the loss.

Mt. Blue 7, Lawrence 2

FAIRFIELD – Adam Gilbert took control of his first varsity pitching start Thursday and led Mt. Blue to a 7-2 victory over Lawrence in a baseball game on Thursday.

Gilbert scattered two hits in seven innings of work to make his first outing a win. John Moloney belted out a pair of doubles for the Cougars (5-2), while Mike Cayer nailed a triple and a single.

Matt Gilman threw a complete game for the Bulldogs (2-5) and suffered the loss.

Softball

Livermore Falls 11, Wiscasset 2

LIVERMORE FALLS – Sarah Hamilton belted out four hits and drove in four runs to lead Livermore Falls to an 11-2 win in MVC softball action.

The Andies (2-5) scored in all but the fifth inning as Danielle Gray (2-3) threw a complete game gem, striking out seven while walking one. Rachel Gray suffered the loss.

Mt. Ararat 10, Leavitt 7

TURNER – Jawina Brown smashed a two-run triple in the 10th inning to lift Mt. Ararat to a 10-7 victory over Leavitt in a KVAC softball matchup on Thursday.

Brown led the Eagles (4-3) with three hits, while Jesse Gamrat and Miranda Johnson added two apiece. Tristan Pepin scattered 13 hits and picked up the mound win.

Steffanie Healey led the Hornets (3-4) with three hits, while Beth Burgess and Heidi Swett both tallied a pair. Burgess also handled pitching duties and was saddled with the loss.

Buckfield 9, OOB 5

BUCKFIELD – Buckfield jumped out to a quick 8-1 lead at the end of the first inning and held on to post a 9-5 win over Old Orchard Beach.

Desiree Brackett pitched a complete game, striking out three without a walk to post the win.

Brackett supported her own cause with three hits, including a triple, while Shannon Ridge added a double and single. Tori Coffman chipped in with a double for the Bucks (3-0)

Laureen Gouyette took the loss for the Seagulls.

Lacrosse

EL 12, Lincoln 11

NEW CASTLE – Katie Bonney scored five goals to lead Edward Little to a 12-11 win over Lincoln Academy in girls’ lacrosse play on Thursday.

Liv Welch (2), Beth Esponette (2), Ashley Vinning, and Bre Wing rounded out the Red Eddies’ atttack.
