BANGOR (AP) – A car-truck collision on Interstate 95 sent Gov. John Baldacci’s younger sister to the hospital.

Lisa Baldacci, 42, was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center for shoulder and neck injuries and a broken foot after her Madza convertible collided with a tractor-trailer in the southbound lane near Union Street at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Following the collision, Baldacci’s car left the highway and struck a granite embankment, said Dan Ryan, a trooper with the Maine State Police. Baldacci was not ejected from the vehicle; it was not known if she was wearing a seat belt.

A spokesman for the governor said Lisa Baldacci was in “good shape,” but would not elaborate.

“Any details regarding her condition should come out of the family,” Lynn Kippax said. “It’s a personal family matter, and that’s where it should stay.”

The driver of the truck, identified as Francis Matte, 25, of Quebec, was not injured.

The accident remained under investigation.
