BUCKFIELD — Kasey Farrington fired a no-hitter and struck out nine batters as Buckfield rolled over Rangeley 17-4 in soaking E-WC softball action on Wednesday.
Farrington was also the game’s only repeat hitter, knocking a double and a single for the Bucks (10-4). Dee Lavoie also doubled to help spark the Buckfield offense.
Cate Jamison was saddled with the loss for the Lakers (9-3), giving up 17 runs over four innings.
Baseball
Poland 8, Lake Region 1
POLAND – Alex Smith hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to power Poland to an 8-1 victory over Lake Region in baseball action on Wednesday.
Winning pitcher Keegan Fennessey helped his own cause with a two-out, two-run single in the second to help the Knights gain their 12th victory of the season.
Girls’ lacrosse
Brunswick 16, EL 3
Brunswick – Tiff Romano scored three goals to lead Brunswick to a 16-3 lacrosse victory over Edward Little on Wednesday.
Nine other players scored for the Dragons. Edward Little goal scorers were Danny Martineau, Bre Wing and Beth Esponette.
