SKOWHEGAN – Ali Coleman’s infield single with the bases-loaded in the eighth inning plated Ashley Morgan with the winning run to lead No. 12 Lewiston to an 8-7 victory over No. 4 Skowhegan in the Eastern A preliminary round softball game.

Morgan led off the eighth with a sharp single to left and advanced to second on Brittany Nadeau’s bunt single. After a fielder’s choice advanced them into scoring position, Allie Morin reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Coleman followed with a shot up the middle.

The Skowhegan second baseman knocked it down, but could not make a play.

The Blue Devils (9-8) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings. An RBI triple by Maria Labbe and Amanda Michaud’s two-run double sparked a four-run third inning.

The Indians (13-4) rallied with five runs in the fourth and forced extra innings with two runs in the seventh when Cassy Martell’s double and an error tied the game at 7-7.

Madison 8, Dirigo 0

MADISON – Sarah Smith scattered three hits and received plenty of support at the plate as Madison rolled to a 8-0 victory over Dirigo in Western Class C softball playoff action on Tuesday.

Jessica Heyden led the Bulldogs with a two-run double, while Hannah Seamans also belted an RBI double.

Veteran pitcher Abby Fenstermacher led the Cougars with a double and suffered the loss.

Lisbon 6, Georges Valley 3

LISBON – Belle Mathieu singled in the go-ahead run and eventual game-winner as Lisbon bolted to a 6-3 win over Georges Valley in Western Class C softball playoff action on Tuesday.

Loralie Franklin collected three of the Buccaneers’ (8-7) six hits and notched an RBI in the losing effort.

The Greyhounds (12-5) jumped ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning to turn a 3-2 Georges Valley lead into a 6-3 advantage.

Soleil Mathieu tied the game with a run-scoring double before Belle Mathieu put Lisbon up for good.

Siohban Riordan knocked in the fourth run of the rally with a sacrifice fly.

Mt. Abram 4, Livermore Falls 1

SALEM – Katie Walker hurled a one-hitter Tuesday and got adequate run support as Mt. Abram defeated Livermore Falls in Class C playoff action on Tuesday.

Emily Stinchfield led the Roadrunners (12-5) with two hits on the day. Danielle Gray handled pitching duties for the Andies (8-9) and suffered the loss.

Leavitt 1, Hampden 0

HAMPDEN – Hampden relief pitcher Lacey Littlefield balked in the seventh inning with runners at second and third, allowing Leavitt to eke out a 1-0 victory in Class A preliminary round playoff action on Tuesday.

Heidi Swett, Melissa Chadbourne and Aime Chiasson led the Hornets (9-8) with doubles, while Brittany Gurney claimed the mound win.

Jenna Shue led Hampden (12-5) with two hits on the day, while Littlefield suffered the loss.

Baseball

Skowhegan 1, Mt. Blue 0

FARMINGTON – Mike Lacasse singled in the seventh inning, advanced to second on an error and scored on another to lift Skowhegan to a 1-0 victory over Mt. Blue in an Eastern Class A preliminary round baseball action on Tuesday.

Lacasse led the Indians (9-8) with three hits. Matt Ouellette struck out five and walked two to record the win.

Mike Cayer and Hal Robbins led the Cougars (10-7) with two hits each, while starter Nick Tibbetts was credited with the loss.

Oak Hill 3, Lincoln 1

WISCASSET – John Daggett doubled in a pair of runs in the first inning as Oak Hill coasted to a 3-1 win over Lincoln Academy in Western Class B playoff action on Tuesday.

With one out in the top of the first inning, Wally Rines collected a walk to get things started for the Raiders (8-9). Pitcher Justin Plourde then singled, and both runners later advanced on a passed ball before Daggett plated them with a double.

Josh Jillson led off the fifth inning for Oak Hill with a double.

Two batters later, Eric Daniels singled in the insurance run for the Raiders.

Patrick Howell recorded two of the Eagles’ (9-8) four hits, while suffering the pitching loss for Lincoln.
