POLAND – Alex Smith struck out 13 Locke Mills batters and hit a grand slam for Mechanic Falls, leading it to a 6-0 Zone III American Legion win Thursday.
Matt Marr hit two singles for Locke Mills (2-4).
Monmouth 7, Gardiner 3
WALES – Justin Plourde allowed four hits and four walks while striking out eight batters as Monmouth (3-0) held off Gardiner 7-3 in Zone II American Legion action Thursday.
Sean Holbrook hit a two-run home run in the second inning and drove in three runs altogether to pace the Monmouth offense.
Smith-Tobey 4, Gayton 3
BATH – Justin Clark plated Jordan Bichrest with the game’s only earned run in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading Smith Tobey past Gayton 4-3 in Zone III American Legion action Thursday.
Ryan Turgeon had driven in Brandon Gervais in the top of the sixth to knot the score at three for Gayton.
