FALMOUTH – The Elliot Avenue Little League All-Star team continues to receive top-notch pitching.
After winning seven of eight games by shutout in the District 5 tournament, Elliot opened its bid for the 11-12 year-old state championship with another shutout. Joe Sullivan tossed a three-hitter and fanned 13 in a 7-0 triumph Saturday over Bucksport.
Scott Ouellette had a pair of hits, including a three-run home run. Alex Parker also had two hits for Elliot.
The losing pitcher for Bucksport was Nathan French. Tim Nason and Cody Millan each had a hit for Bucksport.
Elliot Avenue plays today at noon against Bangor East.
Elliot 8, Holbrook 0
KNOX – Ben Wigant fanned 15 batters as Elliot Avenue Little League’s 11-year-olds defeated Holbrook 8-0 to advance in their state tournament.
Wigant helped himself out at the plate with a three-run homer to extend the Elliot lead.
Elliot now advances to play Bucksport today at noon at Larrabee Field.
